Escape with us to the serene beauty of Muskoka, Canada, to a secluded cabin in Minden, Ontario that offered the perfect setting for a birthday of rejuvenation and connection. Amidst towering pines and an epic view of Moore Lake, I hosted a wellness getaway for my 35th birthday with a group of friends to embark on a transformative journey of holistic healing. From Chinese medicine, soaking in a hot tub to indulging in organic dishes, and sharing stories of motherhood and wellness journeys, this getaway was a truly nourishing experience for mind, body, and soul.
Nestled in the heart of Muskoka, this beautiful cabin sits along the water on Moore Lake, the view is so picturesque. The owners of this cabin are family friends and we watched them work so hard on this property from start to finish, they’ve put so much love into this cabin and it truly shows! The Wild Kabin is designed so beautifully and it’s very captivating to me as it’s completely my style. The crisp white shiplap, the beautiful wood tones and natural textures, the indoor plants, leather furniture and of course the brass fixtures. This vacation rental screams cozy luxury. With its stylish design and panoramic views, it offers a serene backdrop for relaxation and introspection. And this was exactly my goal for this getaway! Rent the Wild Kabin {here}.
Settling into the comfort of the cabin, you breathe in the fresh air and immerse yourself in nature – without all of the bug bites. We started the afternoon with adaptogen mocktails by the fireplace, with organic homemade snacks at the island as well all stood around it sharing stories about life. We all laughed for hours but also cried. There is so much to be said about women connecting during storytelling, a time we truly feel seen and heard and also, connected. I organized for all of us to have cosmetic acupuncture done during our stay which was such a great experience for everyone. This acupuncture is of course for rejuvenation and healing but without the toxins!
The Wild Kabin doesn’t just have a gorgeous view and epic dock on the water, it also has a hot tub and sauna. We bounced between the hot tub and sauna after a delicious organic “pot luck” style dinner. The spacious hot tub on the deck became a soothing haven, where warm waters embraced tired muscles and promote deep relaxation. We all welcomed some serious relaxation. I personally love a hot tub or hot bath, my body really appreciates the heat. The hot tub sits right at the outside of the deck with stunning views of the water and nature around you. As tensions melt away in this space, a sense of calmness and rejuvenation pervades you. The sauna, tucked away in a cozy corner of the deck, offered us a space for detoxification and rejuvenation. Check out my blog post on sauna benefits {here}.
Saunas are a favourite wellness tool of mine. As the heat envelops your body, toxins are released, and circulation is stimulated. The sauna can easily become a sacred space for reflection and rejuvenation, you can let go of accumulated stress and tension. We of course allowed ourselves to relax but also shared stories and laughs until the wee hours of the night. The starry skies in Muskoka simply can’t be matched and neither can quality girl time!
The Wild Kabin has 4 bedrooms (5 beds) and 2 bathrooms, it has a beautiful, well supplied kitchen for any foodie and more than enough space for a large family. We actually also stayed here in the fall with my parents and the kiddos and had such a wonderful time. There are two living rooms and the lower level one is fully stocked with games and cabin/nature focused books. It’s also pup friendly! The kitchen is definitely one of my favourite spaces in this rental, I’m a sucker for a white farmhouse sink.
Good food was a vital element for my wellness ladies’ getaway, I wanted all of my friends to indulge in nourishing and organic meals while also enjoying each others company. The cabin’s well-equipped kitchen became a hub of culinary creativity, where we prepared meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Vibrant, organic fruits and vegetables, different locally sourced proteins, family favourite recipes all stole the show. Meals became shared experiences, fostering connections and creating a sense of community. Who isn’t craving a sense of community right now? I seriously delight in the pleasure of healthy eating, knowing that I am supporting my body and embracing wellness from the inside out!
Gathered around a cozy fireplace with herbal teas or sitting on the deck under a starlit sky, we shared stories of motherhood, loss, celebrating the joys and challenges that come with womanhood. Each story became a thread that weaved the tapestry of our collective experiences, fostering connection and empowering one another. My heart felt so full knowing everyone felt so heard, safe and supported while sharing funny and also vulnerable stories. Free medicine is how I like to put it.
This wellness getaway served as a reminder to prioritize self-care. Some of us had morning gentle yoga sessions, meditation, and mindfulness practices to calm our minds and nurture our souls before heading back to the beautiful chaos of motherhood. We took a walk in nature, basking in the healing energy of the surrounding environment. Grounding and forest bathing are another 2 favourites of mine in the free medicine department, take advantage whenever you can.
I highly recommend a stay at The Wild Kabin, it’s a relaxing experience that marries beautiful interior design with the serenity of nature. It truly offers a chance to immerse yourself in the beauty of Muskoka, leaving you with cherished memories with family or friends. I can’t wait for our next visit!
