We are super excited to be sharing The Lake Glenville Cottage with you guys on the blog today, a beautiful gem hidden in the mountains of North Carolina. I’ve been following this rentals Instagram account for some time now and I’m super thankful we had the chance to experience it. North Carolina is actually one of the states we’ve been wanting to explore but never had the chance to, until now of course. We had 2 days and 2 nights in the Cashiers, NC area and we are going to give you all of our tips here about staying in the area!
Fun Facts about North Carolina
- The first gold to be discovered in the United States was found in 1799 in North Carolina.

Where to Stay
Since we prefer to cook at home on our travels for the most part, we opt for a rental house whenever we can. As mentioned above, I’ve followed the Glenville Cottage Instagram account for some time, so I’ve been eager to check it out and share it with you guys. Along our drive from Florida to Canada, this seemed like a great stop along the way to relax and explore! You can check out the rental on AirBnB {here}.
Glenville Cottage is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath gorgeous cottage nestled in the mountains in a gated community, surrounded by beautiful forest with the sound of rushing water from a river nearby. It’s only minutes to Lake Glenville, Cashiers, and year-round outdoor activities. It’s what I would call a boutique rental, beautiful interior design with crazy comfy mattresses and bedding (hello 100% cotton sheets), a soaker tub in the master bathroom. This rental has a plethora of high quality cookware, beautiful interior design and of course beside the beautiful firepit outside is a custom-built brick oven with all of the necessary accessories to cook a Neoplitan style pizza or a delicious steak. There is also a little office station with a printer, super handy!
The kids room is adorable, with two twin beds and some toys to play. Every bathroom has high quality soap, shampoo and conditioner. We were super impressed. The home even has a closet full of boardgames for every age.

What to Do
If you are an outdoorsy family like us, I can tell you that this place has so much to see and do. With so little time and visiting during winter, we tried to spend at least 1/2 of one of our days visiting some lookouts and 2 popular waterfalls with the sunny weather. We visited Whitewater Falls and Silver Run Falls.
Whitewater Falls, with a 411-foot plunge, Upper Whitewater Falls in North Carolina is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. Silver Run Falls is 25 feet high and has a swimming area that is very popular in the summer. Both are stunning, but I totally need to come back and see Silver Run Falls during the fall season!
We also pulled over at the Wiginton Memorial S.C Highway 413 overlook , the view was spectacular. This lookout sits in South Carolina right by the state line to North Carolina. Again, I am itching to come back and see this view in autumn.
There are many other places you can visit in the area:
- Rainbow Falls
- Panthertown Valley
- Cashiers Farmers Market
- The Village Green Park
- Go trout fishing or fly fishing
- Visit Lake Glenville
- Try out the local cuisine or have a picnic!
You could also stay home at the Glenville Cottage and cuddle up by the indoor fireplace, the outdoor fire pit with a good book or have a soak in the master bathtub. Cook a pizza and play boardgames or watch a movie, enjoy some quality time together.
Where to Eat
As mentioned, we love cooking wherever we go. We generally stock up on groceries at a local health good store or farmers market when available and cook up some delicious meals as a family. This is better for us as well as we focus on eating healthy with organic ingredients, this is harder to find in restaurants or on-the-go. If we grocery shop ahead of time we can have the healthy snacks we need. Cashiers, North Carolina has a great farmers market.
- Ingles Supermarket
- Farmers Market
- Native Prime Provisions for meat & fish, also an excellent lunch!
- Bucks Coffee Cafe
I hope you enjoy learning more about this beautiful rental in North Carolina, we cannot wait to go back one day during the fall or summer and experience more of the cottage and of course the area!
