The weather is cooling down in Canada as we enjoy the changing leaves and cool breeze, inside we have started to turn on the fireplace and cozy up with our favourite books. Ella is usually snuggled up in the window seat with a whole bunch of pillows and a blanket while Noah loves to snuggle up on our Hauser Brio sofa. Fall is our favourite season as many of you know, we’ve been exploring the apple orchards, enjoying the colourful hikes and indulging in homemade pumpkin pie. The chunky knit sweaters and toques are out and I feel myself slowing down, observing more of nature. The fall colours pull at my soul, I simply love this seasons! Continued below…
We are so excited to share our living space with you, we chose to go with a very open concept space where the family can chat while watching the game and cooking up a storm. We are all about togetherness in this home, we spend so much time in these spaces on the main floor. I almost didn’t put an area rug in this space as I didn’t want to cover up the beautiful hardwood flooring by Pravada Flooring, we love it so much! Our hardwood flooring is the colour Van Gogh, you can find it {here}.
As you’ll see from the photos in todays blog post, we were debating between two Brio Sofa’s from Hauser Furniture. A beautiful leather one and a natural fabric one. Which do you prefer? We loved both but in the end we chose the leather, I find it hard sometimes to decide on things when it comes to my own home, I tend to second guess my design choices and then bounce the ideas off of my friend Ashley Montgomery, a local designer here as she totally knows my vision every time. She encouraged me to stick with the leather one to break up the space as our main floor is open concept and the living room backs onto the kitchen.
You can find the Brio sofa in leather {here} and the natural one {here} on the Hauser website.
Our side tables are also from Hauser, I wanted ones that were minimalist and not bulky, they make a statement in the space without adding clutter. I am also in love with the petrified wood, I love having more elements of nature inside. You can find our side tables {here}!
All of the walls and trim are White Dove by Benjamin Moore. The window trim and tongue & groove ceiling are by Metrie
What are your thoughts on the Samsung Frame TV? We LOVE it! I knew I would be using a frame tv for this space and Craig and I debated between the 55′ and 65″, I was convinced the 65″ was way too big…in the end Craig won. Ours is a 65″ with the walnut additional frame, yes the colourful or special frames are extra. This tv is super user friendly and fun to change the backgrounds, you can use their art options, purchase your own or upload your own photos. I find the darker the image the more it resembles artwork. This television is definitely more pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. You can find our tv {here}!
As for art for the tv, I really wanted the screen to mimic a vintage painting and after some research and reading tons of reviews I landed on North Prints. You can purchase a bunch of vintage artwork as Frame Tv backgrounds at a very affordable price, and this shop also has prints you can purchase to print and frame for your home too! You can find the art we selected for our tv {here}.
The fireplace was built by Craig in this home and all of the built ins around it are by Bespoke Fine Cabinetry, he did an excellent job bringing my drawing to life. My vision included the window seat with a storage drawer for extra blankets and discreet shelves that were accessible from the window seat. He even added a complimenting stained bench top to match the island in the kitchen! The colour of the built ins are the same as our walls, White Dove by Benjamin Moore and the hardware is by Emtek in polished brass.
