You won’t believe this guest house was once a horse stable! Designer Ashley Davidson transformed the 1950s-built space into an entertaining hub decked out for the holidays.
A lot of you may remember this space from a quick casual tour of it I did around the holidays on my Instagram stories! Ashley Davidson is a great friend of mine that I have known since high school, she is also an interior designer I have featured a few times (and you’ll see more of her in the future I promise). I couldn’t wait to feature this space and when she told me she was working with House & Home to feature it for the holidays it made for the perfect timing! This guest house was originally a horse stable, Ashley repurposed the original wood from the stables and used it on the walls in my oh-so favourite herringbone pattern (swoon)! We are so in love with the sharp black details of the space and you know I am a sucker for white couches, it all feels so comfy and rustic but still quite modern too. I would be more than happy to snuggle up by that fire for Christmas, wouldn’t you? I love all of the history they retained with this guest house, and can you believe that that gorgeous table is actually from lumber on the property? Such a statement piece!! So, without me blabbing on any more about how awe worthy this space is (I’d seriously move in) check out the full video paired with a couple images below and make sure to check out Ashley’s design website {here} when you can! xo
I loved transforming this space into something so unique and special. When you enter this space it gives you a sense of warmth and serenity. There’s something about working with natural elements like stone and wood that give you a sense of calming. When designing this space we wanted to make sure that we weren’t taking away from the natural elements that already existed. We wanted to preserve whatever we could and bring in pieces that would enhance the natural beauty of the horse stable. By collecting vintage and antique pieces we were able to add to the story of this space. I love working with items that have a history and a past, I always find it brings something so unique to a space.
