In the midst of all the holiday shuffle I find myself unable to sleep, snuggling my babies extra tightly while they lay safely in their beds and tears fill my eyes until they burn. I’m angry, I’m confused. I want to protect them all with the biggest impermeable hug possible, to wipe their tears – calm their fears as I’m sure their parents wish they could. These poor children did not chose to be born into a war torn country, where is humanity? We are so busy buying gifts for friends & family for Christmas, perfecting our decor that we forget to take the time to be thankful, thankful we can walk to the park with our children without worry that one of them may not live through the day or lose a limb from a bomb or be buried under rubble. We become materialistic and forget about those truly in need of our attention, as social media influencers we have a responsibility to share the truth if we can when no one else is. I feel shame in this very moment for being so concerned earlier this week about finding time for holiday baking, oblivious and ignorant. Sometimes we feel like there is nothing we can do to help but even donating $1 can help in some way or even speaking out. This picture isn’t “pretty”, it’s raw and truthful and difficult to look at, but it’s the cruel reality. It isn’t to upset you but to bring #awareness, to perhaps remind you if you are having a rough day as to what other parents are going through, loss, gut wrenching loss, this should be plastered on every tv in the world shaking us to our core to stop this madness, its horrifying, it’s pure bloodshed, it’s barbaric. It’s hard to look at, some say they’re thankful these are not their kids experiencing these things but how would you want YOUR children to be helped if this were them? Please don’t turn the other way on these poor babies that need our help, don’t forget them!! I’ve put the #UNICEF link below as well as the link to another organization called Syria Relief & Development to learn more on how you can help or #donate, you can also text SYRIA to 20222 to donate directly to the Syria relief efforts. Hold your loved ones closely & pray for those who don’t have that luxury. Here is the Instagram of a photographer I follow who is sharing images and stories from Syria, there is so much truth in his images. View his Instagram {here}.
