I bet you guys thought this day was never coming right lol?? We have so much to share with you about this bedroom reveal that it had to be broken into 2 parts, but oh-so worth it I swear!! We partnered up with Joss & Main to fully refurnish our master bedroom in our current flip and we couldn’t be happier with the results, we were literally able to get every single piece we needed for this space off of their website with such convenience. After spending time working hard on the the Metrie wainscotting & ceiling work we knew we wanted to furnish our bedroom with the best possible pieces at a realistic price point. On Joss & Main we can read reviews on the products we want, I am big on reviews when ordering online. Some customers even add their own images so you can see them in real live spaces, reviews usually help to tell you if the colouring is as described or even about comfort! It’s always nice to read reviews for peace of mind or you can even ask a question about the item on their website. We love ordering through Joss & Main and I know we will continue to do so as we continue to refurnish other rooms in the house.
We all know that furnishing an entire room can be intimidation financially but this ENTIRE bedroom was furnished for under $5000!!!!! Can you believe it?? Even we were shocked in the end, every one who has visited to see our new bedroom cannot believe the transformation or that we didn’t break the bank creating this sanctuary of ours within our own home. This room has become a retreat for me, it’s incredible what this transformation has done for my spirits…waking up in this brand new bedroom is heavenly!
If you’ve followed us for years you will know that I love blues & neutrals, this room actually used to be a deep blue and trust me when I tell you it was awful trying to cover it up with a good white. Talk about an arm workout! We covered the wainscotting with a beautiful, cool & crisp white by Para called Chrysler Hall White and the upper section is called Expansive Sky. When we planned this space with the help of our Interior Designer friend Ashley Davidson we knew we wanted a classic space that had hints of rustic & beach while still being elegant…well, in my opinion we blew it out of the park! As you can see we are yet to come to a decision on window coverings LOL! We’re working on that, we are thinking nice white linen fabric roman shades? The light beats into the windows super early and I don’t even mind because of how it hits all of the details in the space just right so I’m truly in no rush.
I’ve mentioned before that our current home is by no means a large mansion with a plethora of extra space in every room so it was important that we bring in a ton of white to brighten and open the space…the original blue we were working with made the bedroom seem SO tiny and dull! I wanted a high, upholstered wingback headboard but didn’t want a white one. White headboards are every where and as much I appreciate a beautiful white space, I love my beiges and they sure know how to pop on a white canvas! You’ll see more of our bed in part 2 of the reveal, I am kind of head over slippers in love with it!!!!!
I spent countless hours searching the Joss & Main website for all of the perfect pieces for this space. One of my top 3 favs of the space has to be the Juliette Mirrored Sideboard. When we first saw it we decided it was out of our price range but that day we almost removed it from our window shopping cart (side joke) it went on sale for 20% off and right now it’s on sale again!! I have to admit that when it arrived in the mail I was a little heartbroken as the super cool toned white of our wainscotting made it look yellow…we could not have that! Do you remember that day on my snap chat lol? I debated ordering something different or pulling my vintage media dresser from the living room upstairs for a swap BUT Craig suggested I just refinish it like I do most of our furniture. I mean, we had zero time to mess around…we had two weekends to have this space finalized and Ashley suggested we try our hardest to keep that statement piece for the bedroom…so within one evening I stayed up late and refinished the entire chest to a bright white and oh-my-goodness…it’s perfection!!! It fits so much inside too, tons of folded clothing or books of Craigs I keep hidden instead of sprawled all over his nightstand. And if we ever move it we will bring it downstairs as a media unit, I can’t lie – I have stayed awake at night several times considering buying a second for the living room so we don’t have to move it around at all! What do you think of it? If you are wanting a pop of colour, I also love this mirrored sideboard!
My 2nd fav item in this space would have to be the marble tray, with it’s rope & copper detailing. It’s such high quality and the perfect size to fit a couple of coffees delivered for breakfast in bed or to display your jewellery & every day beauty necessities + a floral display! It’s very sturdy and it’s marble, need I say more?
Thirdly, within this part of the reveal I’d have to say the Kayla Storage Ottoman in front of our built-in floor mirror. It holds all of my hair tools and when I need them I have a seat and plug in my curling wands! The kids also love sitting on it and giggling into the mirror, and it makes for the perfect seat to pull up to the mirror and do my makeup. The colour ended up being even more beautiful than I imagined when ordering it and there is a stunning piping detail in its upholstery that matches our bed!!!! Meant to be I tell ya. I love so many items within this bedroom, the light fixture was actually originally something I had picked out for our kitchen table but I just kept picturing it in the bedroom and so one day we decided to get Craig to put it up to see – he was not impressed about installing a “maybe” light fixture but thank goodness in the end it stayed! I am so happy with it and so was he, it changed the room and really kept the earthy feel we wanted – it isn’t “too pretty” now which is what we wanted. The light is Craig’s favourite item actually! We both are also big fans of the globe we found on the Joss & Main website – a real globe, so many interior design stores sell cheap globes that only print sections of the world or it’s just plain jibberish. We love this National Geographic globe because it’s accurate, detailed and pairs perfectly with my vintage books. Every weekend we take some time to look at it with the kids and talk about where we live, where we’ve been and where we want to go with them! We love when we find decor pieces that turn into the perfect family time activity.
We hope you love our bedroom as much as we do and we can’t wait to share the part 2 soon, what is your favourite part of the room?
All Photography by Tamara Lockwood , who kept me chill when I was close to a mama meltdown trying to keep these two munchkins cooperating haha. Luckily we have her to make us all laugh and keep our spirits as bright & airy like the bedroom! A big thanks to JCrew for sponsoring our outfits! xo
