Today I wanted to post about our bathroom inspiration for the transformation we are working on with Wayfair! We’ve teamed up to take a 1970’s bathroom to brand spankin’ new but before we share the progress I wanted to share the vision behind the transformation…the looks I have swooned over for the months of planning this renovation and some of the products we debated over too! You guys know we are big fans of Wayfair, we worked with them on several spaces in our last house and it was a no brainer that we would work with them again on on new house. They’ve made it super easy and fun to create an oasis of a washroom and almost every thing we got was on sale, this space we are working on is a bathroom that I will share with the kids…long story but I do not like sharing a bathroom with my hubby bahah!! Am I the only person who is like this?!? Craig is probably the most hygienic guy I have ever known, so clean and takes such good care of himself but the guy likes to leave things everywhere in a washroom!!! Well maybe he doesn’t “like” to but he does, he is the person who fills every bit of exposed counter space with the items he uses every morning…you know that saying “why should I make the bed if I am just going to mess it up again tonight?” well that’s his take on the bathroom counter LOL. It drives me nuts in short so my solution to this was to just close the door and he deals with the ensuite haha, I have my own washroom that I share with the kids…I mean I clean up after them in a washroom any ways! So this bathroom will be an oasis for mom but one that I share with the littles too. I wanted pretty but also welcoming, these are the images below that I’ve pulled from Pinterest and beyond to give you an idea of my vision for the space. I hope it will inspire you too! I love a good subway tile, this clean washroom from Lauren Conrad’s LA pad tour by My Domaine is still one of my favourite washrooms of all time. Could be a tad too much white however for sharing a bathroom with two toddlers! This white subway tile with a dark grout is always a look I swoon over, I think we may save this look for Craig’s (well our) ensuite lol!!
I love the trim work around the tub in the image below and the beautiful polished brass shower trim on the glass too!I’ve had my eyes on unique tiles for my washroom forever now, I knew when we moved and I had my own oasis to create (that I of course would end up sharing with the kiddos lol) it had to be a unique tile. I love an elegant look so naturally I gravitate towards marble too! We are leaning towards marble subway tile & a funky floor tile! The image above is a design by David Duncan Livingston.
SourceAhhhh gold and marble, two of my favourite things. This image was found here and it instantly relaxes me…and that’s what an oasis bathroom should do right? It’s where troubles melt like lemon drops….into a tub full of epsom salts and your favourite essential oils, yes paaalleeasseee!!! This herringbone floor gives me all the feels BUT I was recommended by about 50 other design bloggers/moms to stay clear of marble flooring when raising a little boy LOL unless I was wanting the odd yellow tile feature within the marble – advice accepted! We are loving the look of mixed metals in a washroom, I love brass & golds (obviously you guys know this by now lol) but I didn’t want it to consume the entire bathroom. Also, the vanities we had our eyes on all had polished chrome hardware – of course we could change them but chose to just work with it instead. I love these Delta faucets for a vanity and they would tie in perfectly with a clawfoot tub look! I also love this French Country style one and the nice contrast its finish would give if we were to use them.
The vanity was surprisingly one of the most difficult decisions, what size would be the best for our family. Which would give the most amount of storage. Which had the best reviews and countertop. We narrowed down our search to the vanities that came with marble tops….and found a bunch we loved! Then it was time to decide, are we going with a grey vanity or a white one? Or maybe a black one? I narrowed it down to 3 vanities that I absolutely loved for all different reasons!!! These were the 3 options….
And of course every vanity needs mirrors right? Well, I knew I wanted arched mirrors and so these two were the two finalists to pick f

Ouuuu shiplap vibes, they get me EVERY time!!! I am loving the idea of shiplap behind the tub. We have so many trim & moulding plans for around the house with our wainscotting so I wanted a nice clean look for behind the tub and I am totally digging the farmhouse vibes for our newest house….did we do this behind our tub or go for a floral funky wallpaper? Hmmmmm…..

A clawfoot tub, a tub that has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember! When we were picking out the bathtub for this washroom I of course asked my husbands opinions on 3 finalists in my shopping cart…well both of the other two in his mind looked like bars of soap LOL!?! I couldn’t stop laughing but honestly, I was so relieved he loved the clawfoot as much as I did. We debated between painting the base of it a dark matte black and having the legs polished brass or black too…it truly depended on our flooring choices. Then we thought about having an all white clawfoot to pop on a busy floor…I can’t wait to show you what we decided on! Wayfair honestly has such a huge variety of stand alone tubs to pick from, BUT do not get overwhelmed…their refining option when filtering the results is one of the main reasons why I love shopping on Wayfair so much. I can adjust it to the exact measurements I would need aka something less than 75″ long and what colours, you’d be so surprised to know just how many details you can select while searching for the perfect product for your spaces. They make it easy and ALWAYS read reviews!!! These two tubs were the two we narrowed it down to! You can find this guy here with the polished legs!Which of the two do you prefer? You can find the second option by clicking here! Do you like clawfoot tubs? Do you have one or have you had one before? I would love to know your opinions!!
Details & accessories – I have been hunting Wayfair for the final pieces to finish this space. So far I am on the hunt for a teak stool, a cute vintage rug and a wood towel ladder! You can bet your bottom there will be a fiddle tree in my bathroom too, I mean there is one in every room of our house haha! These are some of my favs so far from my hunt, I am loving the teak & resin stools to sit my favourite candle & read during my bubble bath….swooning already, can we just move in so I can enjoy a Mother’s Day bubble bath!? Fingers crossed lol!! We are planning to reveal the progress of this space this weekend so stay tuned!!!
Here are some images below of the bathroom BEFORE we completely gutted it…green walls, green counters, green floors, yellow lighting, it was so tiny and cramped in there that I couldn’t even get wide angle photos of it entirely!!! And I mean, I LOVE green but usually just as velvet in a piece of furniture or my favourite hunter boots lol.
