I am so excited to share our holiday home decor with you on the eve of Christmas, we decked the halls this year with the Canadian Tire Canvas collection and I am so in love with it all. For the past few years I’ve had a white & gold Christmas tree and this year I knew I wanted something more rustic, something Canadian…like that good old cabin feel! Canadian Tire had every thing I was looking for and I found this decor very kid friendly, Ella helped me do the tree decorations and she loved the plaid hockey skates and her moose friend that hangs out at the bottom of our tree! I pulled in some items from our current home decor and everything meshed perfectly, I am in love with so many of the Canvas Collection holiday pieces that my list of favourites just goes on. I knew this year I wanted to take it easy on our family in the tree department, every year we do the tree farm tradition and bring one home but this year has been a super busy one and with our Hawaii trip in January I wanted to give us a tree with a fairly easy clean up. In comes our flocked tree, I have always swooned over flocked trees and this artificial NOMA one (found here) is adorable and at a great price point too! The snow shoe, skis and hockey skate ornaments are so, so, soooo cute! We are a hockey family so we stocked up on that ornament as you can see, they would make for adorable decorations to a gift wrapping! They totally helped my Canadian Christmas tree vibe come together with the traditional red glass ornaments. I also wanted to keep the tree very minimal to show off the artificial snow, a more stuffed tree look if that makes sense? I have to say that I also really love how some of the flocking falls off and lands on our wrapped presents as if it is really outdoors! I sound so funny I’m sure but I can’t help it, I just loved the whole snow covered look so much especially with our fur pom throws and faux fur tree skirt. Ella reallllly wanted Christopher the Christmas tree, if you haven’t watched that adorable cartoon with your little please do…it’s precious! Hence, the santa hat – I wanted to make sure our tree was fun this year just for her.
If you’ve been following along on Snapchat you would have seen how last week Craig built some DIY built-in shelving in our family room, I envisioned a chalkboard in the middle with a Christmas quote and my best friend came over as soon as it was ready to put her creativity to work! I don’t think I will be able to erase the chalkboard after Christmas even though I told myself I’d be painting it back white…hmmmm. What are your thoughts? I am so in love with the built-ins and as sweet as a blackboard can be, adding new sayings all year round I just totally appreciate a beautiful white piece! I’ll be doing a full post on the built-ins after the holidays so I look forward to hearing what your opinions are on leaving the chalkboard or not.
The magnolia wreath is large and full and stunning and I can’t wait to use it all year round by switching up additions like burlap or seasonal florals! The large glass cloche had me instantly (of course), you all know how I love cloches and this one is so brilliant and tall…a total statement piece in your decor! I filled it and the decorative glass terrarium found here in the Canvas collection with the Lemax village pine tree set (found here)! The village pine tree set actually comes with a ton of differently sized trees that you can divide up and use in a bunch of spots for holiday decor. Check out the Christmas Canvas Collection at Canadian Tire here if you haven’t already! I hope you loved our holiday home looks as much as I did, we didn’t do very much since we are only in this home until the Summer. If you’ve followed along for awhile you know that we do income properties and move to the next home to reno and so forth, so we plan to have this entire house rented come summer and move on to the next big project!
