Welcome to our pantry, we are so excited to be sharing more of our new house with you! The pantry was a must for this build, I am all about the storage and since I am someone who tends to clutter up the countertops, a pantry is a great space for me to have all of the cookbooks and small appliances we use daily. I’ve always wanted a big pantry, manifesting totally works my friends!
We wanted continuity in this space, for it to be a great accessory to the kitchen. The countertops are Hanstone quartz in the colour Montauk, just like the kitchen and we also used the same zellige backsplash from RIAD Tile on one of the walls. Picking the best fabricator for your countertops is just as important as picking the countertops, we’ve been working with Latitude Countertops for years now and they did all of our countertops in this home. In this pantry you can’t even find the seam unless you really hunt for it, such amazing work! Our cabinet maker Bespoke Fine Cabinetry did the cabinetry the same as the kitchen and we love the massive storage drawers he did for this space. The drawers actually fit a whole bunch of full size appliances and tons of our dry goods. On these large drawers we used our favourite Emtek cup pulls again in polished brass, we used them in the kitchen as well. We chose to match the floating shelves to the island in the kitchen which was a great way to incorporate the rich dark woods in this space while keeping it minimalist since we knew there would be a ton of different coloured books on these shelves. I opted out of open shelving in the kitchen just because I find it can sometimes look too cluttered and we already had so much going on in the kitchen with the black range, arched built-ins and black windows. By adding them in the pantry I could still have my open shelves in one space but it can be closed off with the Metrie Livingston pocket doors to hide any clutter from meal times. We of course continued with the beautiful Pravada Van Gogh 9.5″ flooring in the pantry, we love having wood flooring in our kitchen spaces!
Pantry baskets were a must for us and I love the texture they bring into the space. Those six basket drawers are set up as a home for potatoes, onions and garlic and since there is so much space we use one drawer for fresh breads too!
Cookbooks are a weakness of mine and I love to keep them on display, they become topics of conversation when we entertain and we refer to them often for some of our favourite recipes. Cookbooks are like mugs for me, I always crave more of them! What is your favourite cookbook?
